Good Boots

We recommend woodland boots with mountain grip, if you don’t have its better to buy one. If you are too much concern about the weight of the woodland shoes you can also buy your favorite brands like Reebok, Adidas and Nike but make sure it has good grip, even those brands have good mountain grip shoes but costly. You can also use your regular sports shoes for normal treks where not much rocks and steeps. A good pair of boots allows you to do a wide range of things safely, and it’s good to have one around. No matter where or under what conditions you are hiking, the quality of your boots will have a big impact on how much you enjoy yourself. If your boots don’t work well for you, you’re likely to be wincing along with blistered heels, soggy feet, and in danger of spraining your ankles.

Do not use new shoes, which are not worn before, or old shoes, which are in danger to loose their soles. In both cases you can be in serious trouble. Along with the shoes carry your slippers it will help you move around tent during night stay.

Good backpack

Number two on the list is a good, solid backpack to carry your luggage (water, food, clothes, sleeping bag, etc.). Buy it neither too big, nor to small. Best size is medium to medium plus. Most treks include only one overnight stay so we mostly travel light. Recommended brand is Liviya.

Sleeping mat & Sleeping Bag/ Blanket

Most treks involve overnight stay in the forest or on a mountain. For a comfortable sleep on uneven (and sometimes cold) underground a sleeping mat is recommended. You buy a light weight thermo coil mat its easy to carry and pretty cheap

In case over overnight stay it’s good to have a sleeping bag, which protects against the cold. A sleeping bag also provides a more comfortable sleep on uneven underground. The WWF sleeping bags are worth buying.

Sleeping mats are available in the following location..

Torch

A must carry Item for any trek. Buy an LED torch (120Rs) available in your local electricity shop. It’s cheap, light to carry, compact and has long, long battery live. At-least get a normal one not the emergency lights, its so bulky.

Cap & Goggles

I can say these are must carry items. To know why read further. We sometimes need to trek in the open sun during the hot hours of the day a cap and goggles will help you protect from the UV. Most importantly we might encounter thorns on our way so cap and goggles will protect your eyes pretty much from the thorns.

Toiletry

For overnight treks, bring along your brush & toothpaste and comb. Remember, it’s important to minimize your weight so keep it simple. We mostly trek near streams or waterfalls where you can freshen up your face and if you are lucky jump into the stream. Carry a lightweight cotton towel not the turkey towels.

Food and Water

We will be providing packed food to everyone so no need to worry about food. Along with food we will be providing 100Gms of Glucose per trekking day (100 * no of day trek. The food menu, which we are providing for the trek, will be announced prior to the trek. If you want more buy it yourself. It is advisable to bring along some snacks with you like energy bars, dates, nuts, dry fruits, etc.

Here comes the most important thing, water. Carry enough water bottles depends on your need. 3-4 litters a day is optimal. Carry 4 bottles and you can refill it in the streams. If it requires any specific quantity for a particular trek, that will be communicated prior to that trek.

Clothes

Use light and comfortable clothes for trekking. Don’t use bright colors, which will attract animals when trekking in the forest. Some treks happen in more dense jungle, or through thorny bushes at times so it’s recommended to wear full sleeve shirts. Avoid using jeans, in many treks we get wet (streams, waterfalls) and there is nothing heavier then a wet jeans pant. I personally recommend play dry material T-shirt and tracks. Also carry one extra set of clothes with you, mainly inner wears and socks. Thumb rule is don’t carry too much.

During winter or rainy season it’s good to bring a warm sweater or raining jacket along with you. During summer season or low altitude treks, there is no need to bring either one along with you.

Miscellaneous Items

The organizers will provide tissues and plastic gloves and plastic spoons for eating food. Along with it take your personal medicines. The most common medicines will be provided be the organizers. Take your camera too.

Thumb Rule

Do not carry too much weight on your back. As most treks go through more challenging terrain and uphill climbs it’s important to minimize your weight as much as possible

Things provided by organizers

The organizers arrange food for the entire trek. Along with the food we provide Tissue papers, plastic gloves and glucose. We may also provide some snacks.

We also carry a basic medical kit, which consists bandages and medicines for cold, fever and body pain.

The organizers also take care of tents if required – You might need to carry the tent equipments along with your backpack. We also bring along our cooking gear, which consists of a cooking pot, spoon and lighter.
